  TRADE DESCRIPTION OFFENCES

Leading and junior Members of
Chambers have appeared in a number
of Trade Description Act and Copyright
cases and confiscation issues arising
from such trials.  These cases have
involved charges relating to ‘pirated’
records, music tapes, CDs and DVDs,
involving sums into many millions of
pounds of lost revenue to original
artistes, such as the Beatles and Rolling
Stones as well as international music
companies.

The range of allegations in such cases
covering music stalls at ‘fairs’ both in
England and abroad as well as the
organisation of manufacture, copying
distribution by companies set up for
the purpose of trading in the ‘pirated’
works.
