CORONERS INQUESTS Coroners Inquests have changed in recent years into complex public proceedings by which inquiry is made into deaths in a variety of controversial circumstances. Inquests have developed their own rules, law and procedure under the Human Rights Act 1998 which has extended their ambit. It is an arena which mixes elements of criminal and civil trial with wide ranging public inquisition. Issues of criminal liability and discipline often directly overlap with inquests. Chambers has the expertise required to operate in this challenging arena because of our expertise in crime and discipline work, and the advantage of providing the client with continuity of representation. |
